Barred Sand Shrimp
Be warned: these Sand Shrimps will sneak up on ya'! They are designed to lay low on the seafloor with the hook facing up. Like in the photo Or if that's not your style, they can also be stripped mid-water column like a fleeing' baitfish. Perfect for both flats-fishing and big Bonefish and Trevally admirers. Bottom line: We can all agree—shrimp is delicious!
This fly design started its concept while on a fly fishing adventure to Aututaki in the Cook Islands decades ago, when there was only one guide on the island and not a very good one, so bad he was Stu, our geeky fly designer and owner hired him a handful of times, as it was weirdly fun, despite his wife at the time saying. No, he's terrible! Goes to show we have been around designing flies before the young punks with flash skiffs and social media arrived and just after the caveman left for the house.
Remember, Having more than one of good fly, and the right size is always a good thing. So, the more significant the pack, the better; that way, you will have a few staple flies doubled and trebled up in the pack selection.
As we know, there's nothing worse than losing the only fly you have that works.
